With Hauppauge Capture some files require QSF to clean up my batting average was much better with the PVR 1. I have recorded >100 hours since then, mostly in one-hour chunks, some in chunks up to four hours, and I always use. I posted earlier in this thread shortly after I began using a PVR 2. Wasn't it the Hauppauge Rocket model that was causing all of the trouble? That really is a different beast. I have done hundreds of files with Hauppauge Capture via my HD PVR and now HD PVR2. I don't know if this is compliant, but VideoRedo and VLC and other software have no trouble with these files. Interrupted every 40-50 frames by an IDR frame. Usually I set the bit rate to a middling number, e.g., 9Mbps. We know which of these to choose, of course, and I always capture in ts files because that's what I'm used to doing. Right up front the software lets you select container format (mp4, ts, m2ts), video 'quality' (actually bit rate), and whether the bit rate is constant or variable. This software, Hauppauge Capture, ships with the HD PVR2. I believe it is supposed to work with all of their PVR models I know it works with the original HD PVR. A while back Hauppauge came up with their own capture software. My original Hauppauge HD PVR shipped wit ArcSoft Total Media Extreme for video capture.
